Sabudana Khichdi (Sago)

This is our all time favourite, and keeps us happy during fasts.


1 cup sago
2 boiled potatoes
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
4-5 curry leaves
1 cut green chilly
10-12 peanuts

Soak 1 cup sago for atleast 6-7 hours. Do not put extra water, infact, it should be just enough to cover the sago.

I normally soak it overnight. Drain excess water if any.


Put some oil in the shallow pan. once its hot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Then add curry leaves, cut green chilly and salt.

Add the cut potatoes and mix it well. Now add the sago and toss it well so that the sago gets the coat of the spices. Simmer it formntoer 6-8 min and ther it is ready to be served.

This dish is pretty popular especially during festivies where people observe fast.
