Last weekend, we visited Samarkand. The ambience is very unique - northwest frontier province. Food menu is printed on the newspaper while liquor menu is on bottle. The waiters are dressed in black pathani dress with the head gear. You can also see the kitchen where Kababs are being grilled in the tandoors. BJN truly walks an extra mile to give a distinctive setting.

On arrival, they gave us water in the thick bottom copper glasses. Along with that they gave colourful fried sticks with four kinds of dips. Don’t eat these sticks generously as you will be killing your appetite. Hold onto the temptation, it’s worth it. Oh well, we were asked to wear an apron as there are no table napkins.

We ordered Stuffed Chicken Breast as a starter and Dum Chicken Biryani for the main course. Don’t be surprised, these 2 are more than enough for 2 people.

The starter was very well marinated. It was very very tasty. The Biryani was brought in the copper bowl sealed with dough not to let the aroma escape. The taste was really magical and not extra spice which needs to be stacked on the plate.

Then we ordered Kulfi to wrap the delicious meal. This creamy Kulfi is served in four small one inch cubes, but believe me it is perfect to satiate the sweet buds. Though the place offers signature non-vegetarian dishes but it also serves excellent vegetarian food.

Just a word, be prepared to use hands. This north-west frontier province will give flatware only on demand, as they believe the food is best when eaten with hand, though it’s not easy.

The pleasant evening with the great aromatic food costed us only one thousand two hundred. Totally worth the price. The place is open from 12.00 p.m to 3.30 p.m and from 7.00 p.m to 11.30 p.m.
